Doody Enterprises, Inc. has produced an annual replacement for the discontinued Brandon and Hill Select Lists. Over 190 health care professionals and medical librarians collaborated to create the 2007 edition of this comprehensive collection development resource which rates core titles in 121 specialty areas in health sciences, basic sciences, clinical medicine, allied health, associated health professions and nursing.
Many of the titles on the Doody Core Titles and Essential Purchase Titles lists are available through the STAT!Ref Online title collection. The designations and ratings are defined as follows:

Core Titles: A core
title is a book or software title that represents essential knowledge
needed by professionals or students in a given discipline and
is highly recommended for the collection of a library that serves
health sciences specialists.
Essential
Purchase Title: Recommendations from the Essential
Collection Development Tool for Libraries of All Sizes.- Doody's Star Rating® System: Each group of stars represents a numerical range. A title is assigned a numerical value during the review process which then determines it's star rating.
