STAT!Ref® Mobile Overview

STAT!Ref Mobile is the same intuitive, full-text e-resource that enables users to cross-search evidence-based and authoritative references in seconds online only scaled to view on smaller screens.

  • • Same as the web version
  • • Goes where you go
  • • User Name and Password or IP Authenticated

Always on call. Whenever, wherever you need it. If you have a subscription to STAT!Ref Online and you have a mobile device that is web enabled then you already have STAT!Ref Mobile.

STAT!Ref Mobile is optimized for delivery on mobile devices. Simply log in as you normally do and most mobile devices will be automatically redirected to the mobile URL. The mobile version has full content available for all STAT!Ref Online and is intended to allow quick searches of titles while on the go.

Once a user connects successfully with their mobile device, STAT!Ref will detect the capabilities of their device and will direct them either to the mobile user interface or the full featured interface, based on what their device supports.

Proprietary browsers such as the BlackBerry browser can sometimes be an issue. We recommend installing an additional browser that is compatible with your device if you have browser issues while trying to use STAT!Ref Mobile. Some tested or recommended browsers include: Safari, HTML Internet Browser, Media Net, Openwave, Opera Mini, Minuet, and NetFront.

The only programming difference between STAT!Ref Online and STAT!Ref Mobile is the mobile version does not use JavaScript.

Click here for complete connection and authentication instructions.

STAT!Ref Mobile requires IP or User Name and Password authentication.

How to Authenticate

After downloading the STAT!Ref Mobile App, in order to access your institution’s existing subscription, you must create a personal username and password. The STAT!Ref Mobile App works for all institutions that have enabled the use of the STAT!Ref Temporary Login Account.

To connect to your subscription via the STAT!Ref Mobile APP, follow these steps:

• Access your STAT!Ref subscription as you would normally
• Click the “My STAT!Ref” link in the upper right corner
• If you do not have a “My STAT!Ref” account already, set-up your account by simply entering your name, state, phone number, e-mail address and a “My STAT!Ref” password
• Click the “Temporary Login Account” tab and click the “Activate/Renew” icon

Activating the “Temporary Login Account” will provide the ability to login to your institutional subscription via a username and password on your mobile device. This account will be the same as “My STAT!Ref” account - “My STAT!Ref” email address and password become a login account, temporarily.

Once you are authenticated, the preferences-based login can be used for 90 days, after which you must click the “Activate/Renew” button from the temporary login account screen again. To renew “My STAT!Ref” login account you will have to log in via an official log in method*, connect to “My STAT!Ref” account and click the “Activate/Renew” button again. The number of days “My STAT!Ref” may be activated as a login account is controlled by the manager of your STAT!Ref subscription.

Need Help?

For assistance, please call technical support at 1.800.901.5494 or e-mail support@tetondata.com.

*Official login methods are authentication based on the IP addresses of your institution and/or full user accounts. By logging in through an official method you are able to verify that you have access to the subscription and therefore you are able to renew your Prefs login as an access option.

STAT!Ref Resources. Where are they?
All STAT!Ref subscriptions come with value-added resources such as Stedman's Medical Dictionary, PubMed, National Guideline Clearinghouse, MedCalc 3000, APhA PDFs & Nursing Pod casts.
SR Mobile is a streamlined version of the same subscription. Because some of the value-added resources are memory, megabyte and/or Flash intensive, not all resources are available at this time on the mobile version.
Here is a break down of these resources:
  • • Available: Stedman's Medical Dictionary. Stedman's is incorporated into the application. You can highlight a word on the device, click Define, and if found in Stedman's, the definition will appear as a pop-up. On some devices you just need to tap the word.
  • • Available: PubMed. PubMed links in the text are active. You will get a message that you are about to leave the STAT!Ref web site and are given the chance to continue or to cancel. Additional Resource search results are not available in the mobile apps.
  • • Available: National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC). NGC links in the text are active. You will get a message that you are about to leave the STAT!Ref web site and are given the chance to continue or to cancel. Additional Resource search results are not available in the mobile apps.
  • • Not at this time: APhA DrugInfo LINE® PDFs.
  • • Not at this time: MedCalc 3000
  • • Not at this time: Nursing Pod Casts. Note: These Pod Casts are Mp3 files and can be downloaded to your Mp3 player. Access your STAT!Ref subscription while IP Authenticated, go to the home page, locate the Nursing Pod Cast Panel and follow the download instructions located there.
My access was seamless when I was at work, but now that I'm home, I'm being prompted for a username and password. Why?
From school or work you were connected to your WLAN or were being routed through a proxy server and STAT!Ref recognized that you were an authorized user via a registered IP address. Once you left the range of the recognized IP address, STAT!Ref prompted you for a username and password. Setup a prefrences account and download one of the available STAT!Ref Mobile Apps and you will be able to access STAT!Ref on your mobile from anywhere via user name and password. See Mobile App information on this web page.
If you still have difficulty please contact customer service or your librarian.
I can access STAT!Ref® Mobile but it seems to be very slow.
You may want to search the Internet for your model of mobile device and look up its specifications. Look specifically under Network Specifications to make sure your device is wireless enabled. STAT!Ref Mobile works best on a WLAN versus just a cellular connection. While access over a cellular network will work, it is recommended that a WLAN is used to access STAT!Ref Mobile.
Is Anatomy.tv supported?
STAT!Ref® Mobile is not intended for use to access other STATRef Online Resources such as MedCalc 3000 or Anatomy.tv. Those are best accessed and viewed using STATRef Online.
Note: These additional resources may become available at a future date.
What is different when using an iPhone, iPod iTouch or iPad?
This applies to STAT!Ref Mobile - web enabled mobile access.
iPhone, iPod iTouch and iPad users will see the regular SR Online version of STAT!Ref. If you would prefer the version scaled for the small screen then just use this URL to login; http://online.statref.com/mobile. This will prompt you for a user name and password. If you want to be IP Authenticated you will need to know the SR Online group alias for your institution or subscription. Just add /grpalis=???? (where ???? is replaced by your group alias) to the end of the URL.
Better yet, setup a preferences account and download one of the available STAT!Ref Mobile Apps and you will be able to access STAT!Ref on your device from anywhere via a user name and password. See Mobile App information on this web page.
Special browser required to view Flash content on iPad
Flash dependent content from products such as Anatomy.tv or Anatomy & Physiology Online require a special browser if being accessed from an iPad. Recommended browsers are:
Puffin WebBrowser for iPad: Puffin Web Browser 2.0 is the premium version
Photon Flash Player Browser for iPad: Works on IOS4.2 or later
I clicked on Full Site and now I'm getting JavaScript errors.
When you clicked the Full Site link you exited out of STAT!Ref Mobile and entered STAT!Ref Online. STAT!Ref Online uses JavaScript and a number of mobile devices do not support JavaScript. Log out and then log back in and you will be redirected back into the mobile version.
Not: Full Site link is only visable if you are using the STAT!Ref Browser version of Mobile and not one of the available apps.
I'm getting a message, "Browser is not compatible". What does that mean?
Your device probably has a proprietary browser that is not supported by or compatible with STAT!Ref. We suggest that you download an additional browser to your device and then try searching STAT!Ref again. You can search the Internet for a 3rd party browser that is compatible with your device. Some suggested browsers are: Safari, HTML Internet Browser, Media Net, Openwave, Opera Mini, Minuet, and NetFront.
